Employment
World Merchants (09/02 - Current)
At this small business selling herbs and spices near the Pike Place Market, I am effectively in charge of all mail order operations. Duties include receiving orders placed via the Web and over the phone, filling these orders accurately, packing them into boxes, determining the most cost-efficient method of shipping, invoicing the customers, and getting the package out the door. I have maintained a constant and accurate queue system, filling the orders in a timely manner in the order in which they are received. I am also responsible for all emails that come to the general emailbox, answering customers' questions about their orders and other general spice inquiries. When there is confusion regarding a specific order, it is my duty to contact the customer and clear it up.

Other duties include: answering the phone and taking messages, placing orders for packing supplies, delivering orders to downtown restaurants, receiving checks into the accounting system, making cash deposits, customer service at the front spice counter, brewing tea for customers, filling commercial orders, and training new employees.

Content Specialist at Nielsen//Netratings, AdRelevance (09/01 - 06/02)
In my ratecard duties, I negotiated with advertising sales executives via phone and email, and extracted the pertinent information from this correspondence. I checked the data for accuracy and entered it into the database. I maintained a regular schedule of updates and follow-ups.

As an ad classifier, I was responsible for determining the advertiser, market, and strategy for hundreds of Internet ads per week. I learned a very complex taxonomy of industries and familiarized myself with the hierarchies of several large conglomerates. I learned to navigate a very large database using an Access-based client program.

Customer Service (Seven years' experience, including serving and bartending)
My prioritization and multi-tasking skills at New York Mario's in Lynnwood earned me Employee of the Month honors. I worked at Mario's for over three years.
